Serré Pinot Noir
Wine
Bannockburn Serré Pinot Noir is grown with close planting, low trellising and narrow rows to replicate the tough vineyard conditions of Grand Cru Burgundy.
Serré is French for 'tightly packed'. Planted in the 1980s the vineyard is one of the oldest close planted vineyards outside France. It is dry grown, organically maintained and very labour intensive.
Wild fermented with some whole bunches, the grapes spend two weeks on skins. Pressed to tank the wine settles overnight. After malolactic fermentation and 12 months ageing in French oak, it is racked to tank prior to bottling.
Bright mid red, Bannockburn Serré Pinot Noir is focused, powerful and fragrant with beautiful balance.
Its limited availability attracts a cult following. Cellaring potential is 12 years.
